Advent 2024 Devotion: December 9

Scripture: Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Devotion: Isaiah's prophecy foretold the birth of Jesus Christ and emphasized His divine nature and the roles He would fulfill. As we are reminded that Jesus is not only the child born in Bethlehem, but also the promised Messiah who brings hope, peace, and salvation to the world. His birth marked the fulfillment of God's promise to send a Savior, a King who would reign with wisdom, power, and love. Isaiah 9:6 reminds us that Christmas is not just about the birth of a baby, but about the arrival of our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace, who came to transform our lives and establish His eternal kingdom.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. As we celebrate His birth, fill our hearts with His peace and Wisdom. Amen. Amen.
