Zechariah 6:1–8 — Vision 8: The Four Chariots
Zechariah 6:1–8 — Vision 8: The Four Chariots
In the eighth vision, Zechariah sees a powerful scene: four chariots, each drawn by horses of distinct colors, racing across the earth. These chariots symbolize divine judgment, swiftly executed over evil. Zechariah was a witness to God's sovereignty over the affairs of man, assuring the postexilic Judeans that despite opposition, His plan would prevail. This vision is a promise that God will judge evil; His plan cannot be thwarted. The judgment poured over these wicked nations will appease God's wrath, leading to a time of rest. All this points to Christ's Second Coming and His millennium reign over the earth.
The vision powerfully called Israel to trust in God's sovereignty, even in the midst of their difficult circumstances. It reminds us that God is in control of all that is happening around us and will fulfill His promises foretold in Scripture. This means that despite the presence of evil in our world, we can live in hope because God is faithful to His promises of redemption. This vision encourages us to live in faith and perseverance.
Believers have the tendency to become disillusioned (defeated and hopeless) or delusional (closing our eyes to evil) instead of being discipled, namely, living in obedience to our Lord with a sense of duty, purpose, and mission, all while being hopeful and filled with joy.
Are you disillusioned, delusional, or discipled?
