Advent 2024 Devotion: December 3

Scripture: Genesis 49:10
¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah,
Nor a lawgiver from between his feet,
Until Shiloh comes;
And to Him shall be the obedience of the people.

Devotion: Sin brought choas into God's perfect creation. It shattered peace and brought rebellion, war, and strife. Jacob's prophecy in Genesis 49:10 regarding Judah points to Jesus Christ, the Lion of Judah.  He is Shiloh, the One to whom the scepter (authority to rule) belongs. When He comes, all people shall obey Him. This reminds us of Jesus' rightful place as our King. Hebrews 1:8 says
⁸ But to the Son He says:
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your promises and for including us in Your plan to redeem Creation. Help us to trust in Your will for us and to follow You faithfully. Amen.
