Ephesians 6:10-20 — The Word of God
Ephesians 6:10-20 — The Sword of the Spirit
The sixth component of the Armor of God is the sword of the Spirit, which is "the word of God." It is "the sword of the Spirit" because the Spirit is its source and origin. It is the sword given by the Spirit. It is "God-breath," namely, given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16)
The Confusion
But the Word of God is under attack. It has been under attack since the Fall in the Garden of Eden. Today, some of those who profess to be Christian—whether they put their experience over the authority of the Word of God (postmodernists) or elevate reason over the authority of the Word of God—insist that the foundation of our faith is not the Scripture but the event of the resurrection. However, the Gospel is not merely that Jesus rose from the dead. Many people were raised from the dead. The resurrection of the Lord Jesus was different because in addition claiming to be the Son of God, He rose in fulfillment of prophecies about Himself (1 Corinthians 15:4) and in fulfillment of His prophecy about His own resurrection (John 2:19). We believe that foundation of Christianity is the Incarnate Word of God, the Lord Jesus, who gave us the Written Word of God through His apostles (Ephesians 2:20). If the Word of God is not infallible and is not the foundation of our faith, then we are replacing it with the false teaching of those critics who understand neither "what they say nor the things which they affirm" (1 Timothy 1:7). I’ll stick with the Word of God; thank you very much!

The Characteristics of the Word of God
Regardless, because God is holy, immutable, and perfect in all His ways, His word is also perfect. Scripture cannot err because God cannot err. For the past 2000 years, the church has held that the Word of God is the inerrant ultimate authority and the all-sufficient standard for matters of life and faith. This does not mean that reason, science, philosophy and tradition cannot help us better understand Scripture, but Scripture remains the unimpeachable authority and inerrant source of truth. Nothing and no one is permitted to stand in judgment of God's Word.

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
This is why the devil wants to take this sword away from the church. Without the Word of God, it would be harder, if not impossible, for us to resist him.
