Zechariah 10:8 — The Whistle of the Shepherd

Zechariah 10:8 says,
I will whistle for them and gather them,
For I will redeem them;
And they shall increase as they once increased.

The Meaning
The imagery in this verse portrays the relationship between the shepherd and his sheep. In ancient times, shepherds used a distinct whistle to call their sheep. This whistle was a unique sound that the sheep recognized and responded to, knowing it was their shepherd calling them.
